About Me:

My name is Peter and I love music and going to gigs. You can't beat seeing one of your favourite bands live. My favourite band is Tom Bailey and Thompson Twins plus any related bands and music such as Babble, International Observer and Holiwater. I also like Blondie.Deborah Harry, Bic Runga, Boh Runga and Stellar*. Enya, k.d lang, Tasmin Archer, Duran Duran, Howard Jones, Level 42, Adam Ant, Kajagoogoo, ABC, Cutting Crew, Wang Chung, Kid Kasio, Richard Ashcroft and Keane.

I enjoy photography a lot. I have always been into technology and gadgets and have always liked taking photos of places and things that I have seen that I can keep to remember them and allow others to experience what I have. Photos are great for recording happy and important life events. They are something you can look at in years to come and bring back memories. They are also recording life and history for future generations. I have always enjoyed taking photos but over the last few years got more and more into it. I got fascinated by light trails when as a kid I saw a photo from a post card of Rimini in Italy that my brother had posted home and I had never saw anything like it before I thought it was such an amazing effect.

And after getting a Nikon D5100 and attending a few night classes at Cardonald and the City Of Glasgow College it allowed me to become more creative to learn how to use the camera manually get to know the f-stops apertures better and use techniques like selective focus to blur backgrounds and create bokeh. I knew with a camera like an DSLR it was possible to get all these creative effects like you see in all these camera magazines and the colleges courses got me off automatic so I was finally able to make use of those techniques.

For my concert photos I needed a camera that was small enough that I could take into gigs. Previous compact cameras has yielded very little usable results so I spent a lot of time researching camera models. A bigger sensor would give me better results but with a bigger sensor you will compromise on zoom length or compactness. You have to compromise somewhere so you decide which is most important and try to strike a balance. My ideal camera with a large DSLR sensor large zoom and large aperture  in a small compact body didn't exist and was not physically possible. After many weeks last year i had to bite the bullet and I finally I opted for the Olympus Stylus 1 bridge camera. So far I have been happy with it and have gotten some good results at gigs. While taking concert photos is still a challenge my success rate is higher. My fave TV shows are The Walking Dead and The Strain both of which I am now a huge fan of.
Peter.
